How to Write Content According to EEAT Guidelines

EEAT Guidelines

If you want to rank your web content (blogs, pages, etc.) higher in the search results, then your content must follow the EEAT guidelines. Basically, EEAT is a set of guidelines for content set by Google to provide users with content that is according to their needs and expectations. The search engine will only rank content that is according to these guidelines.

So, it has become extremely crucial for every content creator to take care of EEAT guidelines while writing content. Otherwise, all the efforts will go in vain, when the written content does not rank in the search results.

In this article, I am going to explain how to write content that is according to EEAT guidelines.

What Are EEAT Guidelines?

EEAT stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. It is part of Google’s Search Quality Rater – which is a handbook that Google users (like you) use to evaluate the quality of content.

Google refers to the users as “Quality Raters”, and the content feedback provided by the users allows users to determine the quality of a particular and then rank it accordingly.

Although EEAT is not a major ranking factor, Google does prioritize content that is according to EEAT guidelines.

  • Experience: This factor refers to the writing of content that shows the writer has enough experience with the written topic. If the content is fulling the experience factor means, that all the information mentioned in it is authentic and credible.
  • Expertise: While reading content, readers usually determine whether the content creator has the required expertise or qualifications or not. We know, expertise often overlaps with experience, but in reality, they are not the same.
  • Authoritativeness: Authoritativeness refers to the perceived level of expertise and credibility of the content’s source or author. It refers to the overall reputation in a particular field, if your content is published on credible websites, then readers are more likely to trust your words or information.
  • Trustworthiness: This is the most critical part of EEAT, you should provide information to the readers that is helpful and accurate. This will make them stay longer on your webpage.

If you write content that fulfills all the factors mentioned above, there are more chances that it will rank higher in search results.

Now, let’s understand how you can write content according to EEAT.

How to Write Content According to EEAT Guidelines?

1. Choose a Topic and Research All the Information About It

This is obvious, to write content you first need to find a topic. However, you need to choose a topic on which you have a strong grip. So that, you cannot face any kind of difficulty while writing content about it. To choose you can make use of online tools like SEMRUSH that will quickly provide you with the most demanding search results.

Once you have chosen the topic, you then need to gather all information about it. No matter if you have a strong grip, you still need to perform research. Doing this will allow you to get familiar with the latest trends or information about the topic.

Performing research will also help you understand what kind of information others have provided about the topic and what information you need to provide to compete with them.

2. Start Writing by Demonstrating the First-Hand Experience

Once you have picked the topic and gathered all the essential information about it. After that, you need to start writing the content in a way that demonstrates to the readers that you have first-hand experience with the subject. This applies to any type of content you are, i.e. blog content, product review, store content, etc.

Demonstrating first-hand experience in your written content will fulfill the first factor (Experience) of EEAT. But the question here is how you can demonstrate. Let us explain.

Let’s say, you are writing a product review, then you need to write something that indicates you have personally used the product. But what to do if you haven’t used it personally? Then you can get in touch with the designing team of the product to understand its both advantages and disadvantages. You can then able to write content that demonstrates first-hand experience to the readers.

3. Focus On Providing High-Effort Content

Always write content with a high effort to provide value to the readers, not to get higher rankings. Doing this will require Expertise – which is the second essential factor of EEAT guidelines.

High-effort content is made up by taking care of several things that are discussed as follows:

  • The uniqueness of the content: You need to write content that is completely unique and free of any kind of plagiarism. Search engines like Google appreciate unique content and strictly deal with copied (plagiarized) content. So, to write high-effort content you need to explain the information about the topic by using your own words.
  • Accuracy of the content: A high-effort content is also one that aims to provide accurate and credible information to the readers. For instance, if you are providing a solution to a problem in the topic you are writing about, then make sure it provides an accurate and reliable solution. Otherwise, providing inaccurate information will result in low search rankings.
  • Readability of the content: You need to write content in a way that, it becomes easy for the readers to quickly understand what you are trying to say. This can be done by using easy-to-understand words and following a simple structure. But if you think you cannot efficiently use simple words due to your language proficiency, then there is another solution which is to paraphrase online your written content with AI paraphrasing tools. These online tools will simplify your content by replacing complex words with simple synonyms and altering sentence structure for maximum readability.

When the content efficiently fulfills all these things, it will be counted as high-effort content. So, to write content according to EEAT, you need to provide high-quality content to serve the readers.

4. Add “Who” and “How” Like Sections About Your Content

After writing content, try to add sections like by whom and how the content was created. Doing this will fulfill the third factor (Authoritativeness) of EEAT guidelines.

Google strongly encourages content creators to add authorship of the given information. So that, readers can understand who you are, what are your expertise/qualifications, etc.

Moreover, when you add the section “How content was created” it will also add authoritativeness to your content. For instance, if you are writing a product review, then you have to mention how you have tested the product quality, which parameters you have used, and what results you got.

5. Add Credible Stats to the Content

Finally, you also need to add credible statistics in the content to make it according to EEAT guidelines. Adding facts and figures about the info you have provided will indicate Trustworthiness – which is the last and most essential factor of EEAT guidelines.

Adding statistics will greatly help in building both readers and search engine trust in your written content. As they will think that you have done a lot of research to come up with valuable information.

However, remember, that you should only add statistics that are from a trusted source. Avoid adding multiple stats from the same source. Not only this, try to add statistics that are most recent and updated.

So, this is how you can write content that follows Google’s EEAT guidelines.

Final Words
